Our buying staff is back from the Winter Gift Market in Chicago and we would like to share some information with you.
Colors: The flashy metallic colors that were everywhere at the show last year have disappered.Christmas for us always means red and gold but for the manufactures this year, Christmas will be Silver. Silver with white and crystal, which is lovely. Silver with deep red which reminded me of the decor of a 1930's nightclub. Black and silver-a tuxedo look- is out again, designers bring it back every few years but it is hard sell out here in the woods. The old-silver look is also back in retro design trim but is quite expensive. Old Gold and rich burgandy is back in some showrooms. Lime green and red with pink is almost gone.
Trim: There are a lot of vertical elements in tree design this year. We saw lots of long skinny icicles and other trim that stretched down the tree. Crystal seemed to make a big sparkling statement in many designs.
